Living Mindfully: How I Incorporate Conscious Living into My Daily Routine

"Live quietly in the moment and see the beauty of all before you. The future will take care of itself." - Paramahansa Yogananda

My name is Tina Chan, co-founder of OANINA. In this blog post, I'll share my daily routine and how I practice mindfulness and conscious living. My days can get pretty hectic because I have a few businesses and a family to take care. That's why I've prioritized incorporating mindfulness and conscious living into my daily schedule. By taking time for self-care and well-being, I'm better able to manage my stress and stay productive.

Mindfulness is the practice of being present at the moment without judgment or distraction. It's about paying attention to what is happening right now rather than worrying about the past or future. Conscious living, on the other hand, is about making intentional choices and being aware of how our actions affect ourselves, others, and the environment.

My day starts early, usually at 4 to 5 am. I wake up, sip water, and then meditate for 30 - 45 minutes. I practice loving-kindness meditation, where I focus on sending positive energy and love to myself, my loved ones, and even to people I do not know. This practice sets a positive tone for my day, and I feel grounded and centered.

After meditation, I go outside and greet my cat, Neko-chan. I feed her breakfast and spend a few minutes petting her. This simple act of love and kindness helps me start the day on a positive note. Next, I prepare breakfast for my family. I usually boil eggs, make oatmeal, mix nuts, and cut bananas. This is a healthy and nutritious way to start the day, and I enjoy being able to provide for my loved ones in this way.

Around 6:00 am, I start my deep work for 2 hours. I find that I am most productive in the morning, so I use this time to tackle my most challenging tasks. This helps me to stay focused and organized throughout the day. After work, I do my daily exercise routine, including yoga, dance aerobics, strength training, or jogging/walking outdoors for 1.5 - 2 hours. This is an excellent way to stay physically active and boost my mood. I find that exercise helps me feel more energetic and productive throughout the day.

Once I return home around 10:30 am, I shower and prepare lunch for my family. If I have any meetings or catch-ups with friends, I schedule them for this time. Making time for socializing and connecting with others is essential, as it helps me feel more connected and supported.

After lunch and a few hours of work, I take a power nap for 15 to 30 minutes. This short rest period helps me recharge and stay focused. I find that taking a nap in the afternoon helps me stay alert and productive, especially if I have work to do in the evening.

After my nap, I resume work, and around 6 pm, I start making dinner for my family. We usually have dinner together at 7 pm, and we use this time to catch up on each other's day. We share our plans and interesting stories from the newspaper or events that have happened to us during the day. This is an excellent opportunity to connect and bond with each other.

After dinner, around 8 pm, we retreat to our space and relax. This is when I usually journal. I find that journaling helps me reflect on my day and is an excellent way to practice gratitude and self-awareness. It helps me process my thoughts and emotions, and it helps me gain perspective on my life.

One of the key benefits of mindfulness and conscious living is that it helps me appreciate the present moment. It's easy to get caught up in the rush of daily life, but when I take a step back and focus on the present, I can appreciate the simple things that bring us joy.

Incorporating mindfulness and conscious living into my daily routine has profoundly impacted my well-being. I can lead a more fulfilling and sustainable lifestyle by appreciating the present moment and making conscious choices. Here are some personal examples of how incorporating mindfulness and conscious living into my daily routine has benefited me:

  • Starting my day with a loving-kindness meditation helps me approach the day with a positive mindset and reminds me to be compassionate and loving toward others.

  • Feeding my cat helps me find joy in simple pleasures and appreciate the present moment.

  • Making an effort to reduce my environmental impact by bringing my own grocery bag has helped me feel more connected to the planet and live a more sustainable lifestyle.

  • Regular exercise, such as yoga and dance aerobics, has improved my physical and mental well-being.

  • Cooking for my family has allowed me to share my love and appreciation for them through the meals I prepare.

  • Socializing with friends and family has helped me feel more supported and connected to others.

Incorporating mindfulness and conscious living into my daily schedules help me stay grounded, focused, and present in the moment. It can also help me manage my stress and improve my relationships with others. Setting aside time for self-care and well-being allows me to live more intentional and fulfilling lives.
